I got my CastCooler today. I want to thank you ever so much for your remarkable product! I have to tell you that this is the first time I've felt and smelled fully clean in weeks! I had an extensive foot reconstruction surgery in November and have been in a series of foot casts ever since. My final cast has been on for three weeks with one more to go. The stench coming from that cast has caused me to feel uncomfortable and even feel nauseous at times. "I recently purchased your CastCooler for my 3 year old son Jack, who is in a Spica cast. On February 17th, Jack was running with friends in the gym of his pre-school when he tripped on the boots he was wearing and suffered a spiral fracture to his left femur. The itching started on the 3rd day after the cast was put on, and got so bad that it would wake him up from a deep sleep and would keep him up for hours. My 2 year old son broke his right femur on March 7th. He fell down the stairs to our fort. After the third day he was extremely red and itchy. I was blowing his cast with a leaf blower to keep him dry. His sisters enjoyed watching it but he wasn't a "big fan". My son's name is Ryan, he is 19 months old. He was playing at daycare, climbing up a swing, and he fell and broke his left femur bone. It was a spiral fracture, so he had to have closed reduction surgery to repair the bone, he was put in his Spica Cast on Wednesday June 17th. By the time we got home, which was on Friday the 19th, the inner lining of the cast was already soaked. We weren't given very good instructions on how to care for the cast, and his diaper changes. We were told to use #1 diapers inside the cast, well those were way too small! I became very concerned about it, and a little scared actually. I began searching the internet for any answers to the problem. That's when I found out about the CastCooler. Sceptacle or not, I was going to try anything and everything, so I ordered without hesitation. I ordered the CastCooler that Friday, and it arrived the following Monday, I was so happy, I couldn't believe it was delivered that quickly. As soon as I got in, I set the vacuum cleaner up, and wrapped the CastCooler around the leg that was wet, when I turned it on, he look so relaxed, it seemed like he was getting a massage. You could feel the air being drawn in under the cast, and he was enjoying it so much. within about 10 minutes the cast was completely cool, and the smell wasn't near as bad. My son arrived home from his vacation and we finally got a chance to try the CastCooler. While on vacation, he had gotten his cast a bit wet on the beach, but when we used the CastCooler, it seemed to have dried it out. He stated it definitely made the cast feel cooler. Since he presently spends most of his time indoors, we haven't had to use it every day, but when we do use it, it makes wearing the cast more bearable. He doesn't appear to have the itching and/or stinking problems yet, but he's only been in it for two weeks. (I'm optimistic we won't have these problems with the CastCooler!). After using it, I noticed bits of sand stuck to the surface (from the beach no less) -- which were removed from the cast during the vacuuming process. The CastCooler is Patented

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has awarded another US Patent #7,497,838 in addition to US Patent #7,229,425 for the CastCooler, a device used in conjunction with an orthopedic cast to remove moisture from the lining of the cast.

Odor and Itch - The CastCooler introduces new patient benefits by addressing the two long-standing issues associated with cast wearing - odor and itch. The root cause of these problems is moisture, typically from perspiration, which remains trapped in the lining of the cast. As bacterium grow in the continually moist cast lining, odor and itch result. Until now, there was no way to effectively remove this moisture.

The CastCooler freshens the cast wearing experience by removing moisture from the cast lining without touching the patient. This reduces and relieves both odor and itch. Further, the CastCooler requires no changes to the cast application process or materials. The CastCooler is designed to be used with all breathable (fiberglass) orthopedic casts.
